Back to the boardwalk

After the beach, we headed back to the boardwalk for a snack and for the rides. Ocean City's boardwalk is very family friendly and Colin seemed to really enjoy the rides.

Beach chase

Colin loved the open space of the beach and sensed freedom. We both got some exercise following him around the beach and thankfully, he was cautious around the water. The water was about 70 degrees, so it was pretty comfortable. He didn't stay in the water, for long, however.

Beach time

After strolling the boardwalk, we went back to our motel. Our room was ready for check in and we were able to get Colin to take a little nap. Then, we hit the beach.

For a few minutes, all 3 of us were sitting and relaxing on the beach. Then, Colin took off and we began the chase around the beach.

Vacation

For our vacation this year, we traveled to New Jersey. First, we visited Meg, Dave, and Norah for a playdate. Then, we stopped at Uncle Kevin & Aunt Jennifer's house. There, Colin had a blast with his cousins Mattthew, Joseph, and Daniel. We even got to see Joe's all star baseball game and saw him hit three runs in. For the rest of the trip, Colin said, "Joe hit the ball! Good job, Joe!". Then, we finally made it to Grandma's house where we stayed the night and had a great visit.

In the morning, we got up and drove to Ocean City. We walked the boardwalk as soon as we arrived and stopped for lunch at a pizza spot on the boardwalk. Colin was starting to get a little tired at this point and when he gets tired, he gets a little wild and energetic. Here, he eats a little pizza and Ken spends most of his lunch trying to keep Colin contained in the booth!

More fun to come!

Pawsox Game

We went for our annual outing to the Pawsox and sat on the grass this year--good decision! Lots of space for Colin and Katelyn to play around. Here they are enjoying the piggyback views from Uncle Jim and Nana's shoulders.

Conversations

Colin is, in my humble opinon, very verbal for 26 months. Lately, he has been very interested in practicing his conversational skills.

He frequently asks, "How is your day tonight?". He asks this even if it is morning, but sometimes he asks at the dinner table, so he is grasping appropriate context.

Small talk: Colin asks if you like various things. "Do you like fire trucks?" "Do you like blueberries?" "Do you like books?"...the list goes on and on. These are all things that Colin likes so he is happy when you like what he likes, as well.

Sorry for the interruption...

Life got a little crazy for the past few weeks as the school year wound down, I prepared for my extended (14 month) maternity leave and packed up my classroom, and we prepared for our vacation. We've returned with lots to show and tell!
