Camping!

We had lots of fun (despite lots of rain) camping in Maine with the extended Pag family.

Here are the kiddos enjoying a (very) early breakfast. They are early risers anyway, but the sun shining into the tent meant that the days started extra early (4:30 a.m. for Alaina). Ken was nice enough to let me sleep in a little later (6:30!) each morning.

More house updates

I hopped onto the neighbor's lot to take this picture...it is getting much easier to envision our home now!

From our backyard...the wide opening will be for a sliding door from the kitchen/eating area onto the deck.
Into the front door, living room the left, dining room to the right.
Into the garage.
Next up should be windows, doors, trim and then the siding!

House Updates

A lot of change happened last week!
We went from one story mid week...

To the beginnings of two stories by Thursday....

To a fully framed house, complete with a shingled roof by Sunday!

Starburst

We had lots of fun at Starburst with Cousin Katelyn. There was music and fireworks, but the kids liked the popcorn and balloons best.

Basement poured!

The floor of the basement was poured today! Framing of the house must be just around the corner....

PawSox

We took our annual trip to the Pawtucket Red Sox and lucked out with a gorgeous night.
We arrived very early so the kiddos had time to play before the game.

Colin taking some laps around the park.

Lainey was able to crawl all over the blankets and also on top of her family.

Papa and his girls.

Katelyn and Jim before the game.

Bulkhead

It looks like more progress was made on the backfill and the bulkhead was installed. Weather looks good for next week so hopefully framing can begin!

Stairs into the basement.

Garage has been filled more and is now at ground level. I believe the basement and garage floors will be poured soon.

A girl who loves her food!

Lainey has no interest in baby food (purees) these days and just wants to feed herself. Anything you offer her, she loves. She usually has a little smorgasbord of whatever we are eating. Here she is enjoying pineapple, peas, and cheerios. She also loves red bell peppers, black beans, rice, avocado, chicken, ham, pasta, and even french fries!

Backfill progress

The garage has been filled in almost to ground level.

The foundation was waterproofed.  This is the only area that is still exposed, as this is where the basement stairs outside will be poured and the bulkhead placed.

Here is a good view of the foundation back filled to ground level

Here is the foundation viewed from the front of the house.

So it looks like things are moving along and that framing should be able to begin next week!

Foundation!

We got word that the forms were removed from the foundation so we drove down to check it out.

Here is the entrance into the garage.

Here is looking from the backyard into what will be the kitchen area.
Here is where the bulkhead/stairs will eventually be.

And a view down the street to some of our soon-to-be neighbors. Nobody has moved in yet, but those houses should be ready for occupancy soon. Also, a good hint of the view we should have out of the front windows.

Look Park

We capped off a very busy but fun filled Memorial Day weekend with a trip to Look Park in Northampton. It was great...the park had lots of green fields for Colin to run in, playgrounds, spray parks, a small zoo and a train ride.

Colin and I took the train ride together.

Colin met Tom Turkey at the zoo.

Peacocks!

Lainey and Ken hung out together in the backpack carrier.

Foundation poured

More excavation may have occurred on what I think will be our driveway.

But most exciting, we arrived to see the filled forms of our foundation!
This is looking at the garage and back of the house.

This is looking at the front of the house and side of the garage.

And this is the entrance to the garage. Our garage is a side load and we chose to upgrade a two door garage (we thought it would be easier to pull in to and park two cars that way).

Next week, the work will begin on backfilling the foundation. The builder said that work should take about a week and they plan to begin framing the house the following week. As always, this is all weather dependent, but we should have a framed and roofed (and perhaps even sided) house by the end of the month if things go fairly according to plan!
