Waiting...

I'm behind on blogging, with no good excuse except that lots of time has been spent waiting. Baby Pag #2 is now 5 days late and we are getting anxious to meet him/her! Hopefully my next post will be a picture of our new arrival!

Hike in the woods

Over Labor Day weekend, we visited the state forest that is only about 5 minutes from our house. We had a really nice time exploring/hiking and Colin seemed to very much enjoy it.

I think he was doing a little whining here, but overall, he did almost all of the walking without complaint and only needed to be carried a little bit.

The tennis court

Colin's favorite playground has a tennis court right next to it and Colin can spend hours running around in it, chasing after a tennis ball, practicing his serve (jk), and enjoying all the open space. When we met Katelyn there for a playdate, Colin was excited to share his favorite spot with her.

We've done quite the tour of area playgrounds this summer...Last week, in fact, we visited four different playgrounds. This particular playground is usually empty and has a well placed bench for me to sit on while Colin plays, so it is a particular favorite. We met Uncle Jim and Auntie Julie and Katelyn there on a Sunday morning recently for a playdate. Katelyn was more interested in observing and snacking than in playing much, except when it came to Colin's favorite part of the playground, the tennis court....

Dentist visit

Colin had his first dentist visit last week. It was just a visit, however, as soon after this picture was taken (once the bib was put on), he became very upset and the hygenist recommended we try again in 6 months. He did get a treat on his way out and talked about how he had his teeth cleaned--which is not what happened, at all--he wouldn't even let her take a look in his mouth! Wish us better luck next time!

The spoons

This isn't a great picture, but it documents something very important to Colin...the spoons. Despite a wide array of toys, Colin's favorite plaything this summer has been spoons from the kitchen. These two black plastic ones are his most favorite, but he will also settle for wooden spoons, a whisk, and even the straw from my iced coffee if that is all he can get his hands on. The spoons are most frequently used as drumsticks, but also as wings, to lecture with, to go to bed with, to take a tubby with...the possibilities are endless if you can get your hands on a good set of spoons. Occasionally they are also used to stir things, as well.

Colin wanted to cuddle up with some blankets on a recent morning, but when I tried to take his picture he said, "No pictures! I'm concentrating!".

The Very Hungry Little Caterpillar project

Usually this time of year I'm getting into the swing of things at school, so I think my need to teach kicked in full gear recently. Colin and I have been doing little lessons related to stories we read. One of his favorite books is The Very Hungry Little Caterpillar by Eric Carle, so we made our very own caterpillar!
